Music notation software are computer programs that are used to create and print sheet music. Also known as "score writers".

Traditional classical music from Western culture is extremely complex and music notation software is a challenging application. The main products have a graphical interface similar to sheet music with staves, notes, beam and the entire set of music symbols represented. Main input methods are: step by step using a set of symbols palette and the mouse, MIDI real time recording, or scanning sheet music.

Some projects represent music in an XML based markup language called "Music Markup Language." However, the representation of music written in such a language is still to be resolved as present internet browsers cannot represent music.

Komplette Notensatz-Funktionen, Automatisches Extrahieren von Einzelstimmen, MIDI und VSTi-Wiedergabe

Encore war eines der ersten Programme zum Noten schreiben, welches ich persönlich (es ist schon weit über 20 Jahre her...) kennen lernte. Encore wurde damals (ca. 1990) von der Firma Passport Designs herausgegeben, welche schon 1984(!) ihr erstes Notensatzporgramm ("PolyWriter") veröffentlichte. 
Encore bietet alles, was man von einer Software zum Noten schreiben erwartet und was heute ja schon Standard bei allen Notensatz-Programmen ist. Step-byStep Eingabe mit der Maus, der Tastatur oder einem MIDI-Keyboard. Echzeit-Aufnahme über MIDI, Import von MIDI-Dateien und einiges mehr. Einzig der Import und Export von Music XML Dateien funktioniert leider noch nicht 100%ig zufriedenstellend, so dass der Austausch der Daten mit anderer Notensatzsoftware noch etwas umständlich ist.
Die Benutzeroberfläche aber ist absolut einfach und intuitiv zu verstehen, so dass man sofort beginnen kann, Noten zu schreiben, ohne erst lange im Handbuch studieren zu müssen. Erst wenn man umfangreichere Partituren, oder ganz spezielle Notationen erstellen möchte, muß man doch auch einmal das Handbuch zu Rate ziehen.
Encore 5 für Windows gibt es jetz mit mehrsprachiger Menüführung in englisch, deutsch, französisch, niederländisch und portugisisch.

Die "kleine" Version von Encore, aber für die meisten Anwender groß genug!
Passport Music Software MusicTime Deluxe 4 bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten von Encore, aber mit einigen Einschränkungen. So kann man z.B. nur zwei Dateien gleichzeitig geöffnet haben und bearbeiten (das genügt aber auch meist, wenn man z.B. einzelne Abschnitte aus einem Werk in ein anderes kopieren möchte), weiters lassen sich Partituren 'nur' mit max. 16 Stimmen erstellen (in Encore unbeschränkt). Sollte man tatsächlich einmal mehr benötigen, kann man diese einzelnen Stimmen noch "splitten" und so noch mehr Stimmen unterbringen. Eine weitere Einschränkung ist aber mit der neuen Version 4 weggefallen und nun möglich: Es lassen sich jetzt auch mit MusicTime 4 einzelne Stimmen aus einer Partitur automatisch  extrahieren, was eine große Arbeitserleichterung darstellt. So kann man sehr schnell Einzelstimmen aus der Partitur erstellen und ausdrucken.

Einige der neuen Funktionen in MusicTime Deluxe 4 sind auf der linken Seite aufgelistet. Das Wichtigste aber ist, dass die neue Version kompatibel zu allen aktuellen Windows und Mac-Systemen ist, und dass alle Dateien älterer Versionen  eingeladen und weiter bearbeitet werden können (auch die Dateien von Windows und Mac Computern sind nun auf beiden Systemen verwendbar).

Scores can be printed, exported to Adobe PDF format, saved as SFD ( music notation file format), or as MusicXML, MIDI, or KAR (Karaoke format) files.

Guitar Pro ist ein Mehrspur Tabulatur Editor für Gitarre, Banjo und Bass - auch alle anderen vier-, fünf-, sechs- und siebensaitigen Instrumente mit Bünden werden unterstützt, und deren Stimmung ist völlig frei konfigurierbar.
Durch seine Handhabung, erlaubt Guitar Pro sehr einfach und intuitiv, Noten über die PC-Tastatur, mit einem Mausklick, auf einem visuellem Griffbrett, oder über die Direkteinspielung per Midi-Instrument, einzugeben.
Guitar Pro kann gleichzeitig bis zu 256 Spuren verwalten und unterstützt 4- bis 7- saitige Instrumente, sowie auch Schlagzeugspuren. Sogar die Eingabe nicht gitarrenkonformer Instrumente ist möglich.

Guitar Pro, hauptsächlich entwickelt für Tabulaturen, erlaubt auch die gleichzeitige Ansicht in der Standardnotation.  Beide Notensysteme sind miteinander verknüpft. Gibt man z.B. einen Ton in der Tabulatur ein, erscheint exakt in der Standardnotation die dazugehörige Note, und umgekehrt...

Akoff Music Composer is a song making software that assists in music creation. Hum your melody into the microphone and Composer captures the audio, transcribes it into the MIDI sequence, makes chords and arranges the song. Neither a MIDI keyboard nor any musical experience is required to create music.

1. Choose the tempo, turn the metronome on and hum your melody into the microphone. Composer captures the audio and records it into a digital audiofile.
2. Composer analyzes the audio signals, recognizes musical notes and creates standard MIDI file
3. Composer makes the chord progression harmonized with your melody.  (Composer analyzes the harmonical structure of the melody line - find chords).
4. Select a music style and Composer makes a fully arranged song

This arranged song you can save as a Standard Midifile to import the music notation software of your choice (see above - all of them can import midi-files)

Mit Akoff Music Composer können Sie eine Melodie in das Mikrophon singen oder summen und die Software wandelt diese in eine MIDI-Datei um.
Diese MIDI-Datei können Sie dann in Ihre Musiknotationssoftware einladen, weiter bearbeiten, ausdrucken etc.

1. Einfach das Tempo wählen, Metronime einschalten und die Melodie in das Mikrophon summen. Akoff Music Composer nimmt diese Meldo als Audiodate auf.
2. Composer analysiert die Audiosignale, erkennt die Tonhöhen und erstellt eine Standard MIDI-Sequenz
3. Anschließend analysiert Composer die harmonische Struktur Ihrer Meldie und findet alle passenden Harmonien (Akkorde) zu dieser Melodie
4. Schlußendlich können Sie einen Stil auswählen und Composer erstellt automatisch einen komplett arrangierten Song für Sie.

Diesen fertig arrangierten Song können Sie als MIDI-Datei abspeichern und in das Notenschreibporgramm Ihrer Wahl importieren (siehe oben - alle Programme zum Noten schreiben können Midis importieren).
